The Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has referred to as on Muslims in Kwara State and most people to desist from leaping to conclusions on the viral video wherein college students of an Arabic college have been severely overwhelmed.
DAILY POST stories that the video footage of the incident which went viral confirmed the scholars being punished for alleged misconducts.
Reacting, the group’s Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, in an announcement on Monday, maintained that the motion of the college authorities shouldn’t be judged in isolation.
According to him, “the truth that the dad and mom requested the college to self-discipline their kids should not be ignored.
“While we regard the punishment meted to the scholars as too harsh, we keep that the motion of the college authorities shouldn’t be judged in isolation. The proven fact that the dad and mom requested the college to self-discipline their kids should not be ignored.
“MURIC can also be in possession of one other video wherein the scholars confessed that they engaged in shameful and unIslamic actions, particularly, visiting a membership, consuming alcohol, bathing themselves with alcohol, and many others. These are horrible acts wherein peculiar Muslims should not be concerned.
“Arabic colleges are the repository of morality and the vault of uprightness. They are the conscience of the Ummah. The offence dedicated by these college students turns into extra unacceptable when the actors are college students of an Arabic college who’re anticipated to be the epitome of morality and religiousity.
“Nigerians should brace up and perceive the place the authorities of the Kwara Arabic college are coming from? The college students who acquired that beating have been the black sheep within the college and they’d have polluted others by taking them to the membership if that they had not been taught that bitter lesson.
“While we don’t subscribe to cruel flogging, torture and different extreme corporeal punishment, we make daring to say that kids have to be disciplined.
“We commend the dad and mom of these kids who instructed the college authorities to punish their kids. Posterity will rely them amongst Nigeria’s puritanists and disciplinarians.
“Those who’re condemning the dad and mom and the academics at the moment are those that will gladly encourage their very own kids and wards to take part in BBNaija’s shameful intercourse in public.
“MURIC stands with self-discipline and excessive ethical values. In the sunshine of the above, we urge Muslims in Kwara State and most people to permit the Kwara State Government to research the incident,” the assertion stated.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, in an announcement in Ilorin on Sunday, stated the pinnacle of the Arabic college, who admitted to directing the punishment, has been requested to step apart pending the conclusion of investigation into the matter by the federal government.
