WINNIPEG — Wide receiver Kenny Lawler has been suspended by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after he instructed the crew he had been arrested for drunk driving.
“Kenny knowledgeable the crew at present of his arrest for working a motorized vehicle whereas impaired early this morning. Upon additional investigation, the membership has suspended Kenny for Friday’s recreation and has reported the incident to the league workplace,” The Blue Bombers wrote in a press release. “We take this incident very severely and have spoken at size with Kenny all through the day. Kenny acknowledges the seriousness of the scenario and that such a behaviour is unacceptable and inexcusable. He has agreed to hunt help because it pertains to alcohol abuse, and has cooperated totally with police on the matter.”
Lawler will miss Friday’s recreation when the Edmonton Elks go to Winnipeg.
The Blue Bombers mentioned in a press release that Lawler was arrested for working a motorized vehicle whereas impaired early Monday morning.
The crew mentioned it reported the incident to the CFL’s head workplace and that Lawler agreed to hunt assist for alcohol abuse.
Lawler leads the CFL with 703 receiving yards this season and his 45 catches are second within the league. The 27-year-old is coming off a career-best efficiency the place he recorded 12 receptions for 205 yards and a landing towards the B.C. Lions.
He has 4 receiving touchdowns, tied for second within the CFL.
